Mark 4:26 And he said, “The Kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground. 27 Nights he sleeps, days he’s awake; and meanwhile the seeds sprout and grow — how, he doesn’t know. 28 By itself the soil produces a crop — first the stalk, then the head, and finally the full grain in the head. 29 But as soon as the crop is ready, the man comes with his sickle, because it’s harvest-time.”
Right away, we are learning a profound truth about the world in which we are supposed to be living as opposed to the one we’re in. The fact that Yeshua needs to use parables to describe it means it is nothing like what we believe to be true.
Here we see the Kingdom of God is like…a man?! How can a place be like a man?
In our minds, we view the Kingdom as something that consists of physical space where we go and are a part of. But this language suggests something quite different.
The Kingdom of God is like a man. A person. A real human being. The Kingdom of God is like…you.
It’s almost as if it is the people that are the Kingdom.
This makes perfect sense in a lot of ways. Consider someone that owns 50 square miles of land but it is only he that lives there. He has complete authority over that place but it is no kingdom. Compare that with the same area occupied with thousands of people. One with authority there does, in fact, have a kingdom.
It’s the people that make all the difference. It’s you that makes all the difference.
In the world where we actually belong there is an assumed understanding: God handles the miracle process. No one questions whether the seed will sprout and the plant will grow. We know that to be the case and we trust Abba to do His part in all of this. And He does.
But…
We also need to notice that miracles cannot happen unless the man does what he’s been tasked with doing. If no seed hits the ground, there is no miracle and no subsequent harvest. This should be a very sobering statement for you to ingest:
If no seed hits the ground, there is no miracle and no subsequent harvest.
The Kingdom of God is like a man. It only exists in its fullness when man is there doing his assigned task.
Are you doing your job?
How many unsaved souls are waiting for you to cast down the seed?
What will the harvest be in your corner of the Garden?
Will you be ashamed when we all come by to see what you did with the seed you’ve been given?
Will you be utterly humiliated when the Messiah drops by to see what you’ve done?
The Kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground…
Are you part of the Kingdom of God? On a day coming very soon, we will all see for ourselves. The time is growing very short and you don’t have as much as you may think.
Stop postponing the work you have been assigned to accomplish. Other people’s lives are in the balance.
